The Final Invitations
Here they are! The final, printed and addressed invitations. The addressing went much faster this time around because I wasnt' scrambling for addresses. I'm not as thrilled with the outer envelope calligraphy, but I'm pretty sure that some of the Save the Dates didn't get where they were supposed to because of my crazy calligraphy.
The inner envelope names, however, I was ENTHRALLED with. I went the informal route, used first names, and covered a lot of real estate with my gouache and split nib writing. That 3 hour calligraphy class I took in college was totally worth it. Not that I used a real official alphabet, but it's the style that counts.
The invitations were the one part of the wedding I felt like I could go OCD about and not impose my craziness on others. I did them exactly how I wanted them. And I wouldn't change anything about them!
One of my crazy friends said: "Yee haw. It's like a hoe down!" To which I said "That's right B*tch! I will hoe you down here in a minute."
Hoe down my ass. Sorry. That's just rude.

Hoe down? I don't get it.
Your invitations are stunning and lovely and, from what little I know of you, characteristic of your simple, charming, seemingly-effortless, beautiful style. And, OH MY GOODNESS, the name calligraphy on the the brown envelopes!!! Wow! Had I known more about myself and "my style" when I got married at the young age of 19, I totally would have done something as personalized as this for my invites. Beth, it's a one of a kind thing and a piece of design you'll look fondly upon for years to come!
And- yay!- you're getting married in a month! I'm excited for you... marriage is wonderful. We've been married 10 years now, and are more in love, having more fun together, and doing bigger and greater things than ever before.
Found you through your comment on Brooklyn Bride. Your invitations are incredible!!! I love lettering on the brown envelopes. Amazing!!!!

I love mine! It was interesting to see it in person after talking with you on the phone about your putting them together. You should be damn proud.
Hoe down at a winery?
Hey! I spot ours in the last photo.
OMG! I love them! I just finished up a calligraphy class too and was just thinking about winging my calligraphy too. Can you give me a bit more info on what exact nib you used?
OOhh Beth and Greg made the cut, too! I love the gold pen on the brown and i love your invites, too. I put mine in a safe place and now it's so safe I can't find it. Grr...
I have to tell you that your calligraphy is so charming!
You've got some true talent over there!
Beth... your invites are so gorgeous. And I was even more excited to see that you hail from Callaway County! :) I'm a Fulton girl, myself. I pointed to your blog at mine today. Best of luck to you in your future designs.
So beautiful! Well done, they look fabulous. I've been inspired to create my own wedding invitations after browsing online - so many talented people out there. Hopefully mine can look half as good... One quick question - I really want brown kraft envelopes and love the ones you have used. Where did you purchase them? I live in Australia so hopefully you got them from an online store!
